Even if he had appeared immature or too impulsive in the eyes of his team and classmates, Gakuto had had a good head on his shoulders. At the very least, he knew that tennis was not going to take him anywhere far in the real world. In senior high, tennis began fading out of Gakuto’s life, the dominant role it used to play being replaced by gymnastics and school. Somewhere along the way, chemistry had come to grip Gakuto’s interest in a way that he never thought it would for even the word “chemistry” sound so mundane and colorless and just so...unlike something that would interest as flamboyant a character as Gakuto. Chemistry was something that would interest Yuushi, Gakuto would argue when asked if he actually found ionic bonds were interesting.
Despite all the half-hearted protests, when it came time to choose majors for college, Gakuto had grudgingly informed his counselor that he wanted to study chemistry and had consequently earned himself the raising of two perfectly shaped eyebrows. Thus, Gakuto had spent the four years after high school graduation studying at a university away from the bustle of Tokyo.
Just recently, Gakuto had returned, diploma in hand, in search of a job, which he found with minimal difficulty; however, as smoothly as his life seem to progress, Gakuto found himself wishing for more. He knew he was acting like an insatiable child, but, admittedly, he had missed the color and excitement in his life, having lost contact with most of his former teammates and friends over the years...
...Or so he had thought before he saw that Atobe Keigo – yes, that Atobe - was looking to save a hostel type of establishment. After wiping the orange juice that had spurted out of his nose upon seeing the announcement, Gakuto reached for the phone with a roll of his eyes. Well, if someone knew color, it had to be Atobe.
